Description
Holy Cross Episcopal Church began in 1941 through the vision and energy of Fannie L. Voss of Morgan Park in south Chicago. She was a life-long Episcopalian and wanted a parish in her neighborhood. On September 18, 1941, she held a meeting in her home and formed the Morgan Park Episcopal Club. The group received the blessing of the Rt. Rev. Wallace E. Conkling, Bishop of Chicago, and a year later was named "Holy Cross Episcopal Church." The parish met in home for several years until a handsome stone structure was built. In 1964 the present nave was completed and dedicated. At present, the parish has one service at 10:00 A.M. Sunday mornings with a fellowship luncheon following the service.
